How to save money in Hong Kong and Macau?
Hong Kong and Macau boasts plenty of fabulous attractions that are all exciting and well worth visiting. The problem is that each of these tourist attractions has an entry fee, and when you go to a few of them, those entry fees, accumulated, can come to a pretty large amount of money…
That is precisely why getting a "discount-card" or an "attractions-pass" can prove itself as a smart investment, especially if you are traveling with the family, and each saving is multiplied four or five times… (In some cases, the savings can top up to hundreds of dollars).
So... Let's take a look at what is on offer:
♦ The Hong Kong Attractions Pass gives you free entry to four Hong Kong top attractions of your choice (from the list they provide) + handsome discount on a few other attractions and activities. All in all, you can save something like 40% (compared to booking each activity separately). What's more, it is valid for one month from the time of activation, so you can take your time and enjoy these activities at your own pace.
♦ The Hong Kong Card offers 50% off and 'Buy 1, get 1 free' discounts at more than 50 of Hong Kong's top restaurants, as well as at some of the city's top spas and salons, for a period of 14 days (after activation). It currently costs around US$ 33 (HK$ 255), which means you can cover your investment after one or two meals and save a lot of money thereafter…
The only problem is that you are restricted to those 60 or 70 restaurants that show on the list, but quite frankly, that is a descent selection to choose from.
♦ The See Hong Kong and Macau Pass is actually an upgraded version of the See Hong Kong Sightseeing Pass, which means that on top of the free entry to four Hong Kong top attractions of your choice, you also get free entry to three Macau top attractions of your choice + handsome discount on a few other attractions and activities.
This pass is also valid for one month from the time of activation, and if you actually plan to visit most of these attractions, you can easily save 30% - 40% overall, which is not bad.
♦ The See Macau Attractions Pass allows you to choose three complimentary attractions/activities, including an entry and dessert + a drink at Macau Tower, a Deluxe meal voucher at Galaxy Macau, a hop-on hop-off bus tour of Macau, or even a One-way outbound TurboJET ticket (HK-Macau route), and at only US$ 62 (HK$ 480), that is a real steal!
You also enjoy 10-20% off of services at the AJ Hackett Macau Tower, which provides thrilling activities like bungee jumping and a skywalk, and a 10% discount on the spectacular water-based performance, House of Dancing Waters (again, if you plan doing some extreme activities with AJ Hackett, the 10-20% discount can come to a pretty significant amount).
