Long-haul buses to Malaysia
If you plan to travel beyond Johor Bahru, you can either take a bus directly from Singapore (all the way to your destination in Malaysia) or from Johor Bahru. Taking the bus from Singapore might be easier, as it saves you the hassle of changing buses, but there is a greater variety of bus services from Johor Bahru and the fares are cheaper.
StarMart Express operates daily bus service to various towns in Malaysia, including 12 daily buses to Kuala Lumpur. Their buses depart from the Golden Mile Complex, on Beach Road, not far from Arab Street and Istana Kampong Glam (Nearest MRT Station is probably Bugis, or Lavender).
As at 2011, a one-way adult ticket goes for SG$ 30 (27 Seater)

Transnasional is one of Malaysia's largest bus companies and operates numerous routes across the Malay peninsula (including to and from Singapore).
They depart from Lavender Street (in Singapore) and an adult one way ticket from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur costs around RM 58, while an adult one way ticket from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur costs only RM 31

Luxury Tours and Travel operates a daily service from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur,as well as to Malacca. Their buses are quite comfortable and, what's more, they depart from Orchard Road and drop off passengers in a few places in KL, which means you save yourself the hassle of getting to places like Golden Mile Complex. One way ticket rates range between SG$ 40 to 50 and you can get all the details (and buy tickets) at their website.
Transtar Express operates very comfortable coaches to various destinations in Malaysia, including Kuala Lumpur and Penang. They have 7-8 departures a day (to KL) and a one way ticket costs around SG$ 60
