Travel by land to Singapore: Checkpoints
Crossing the border to Malaysia brings you to the modern city of Johor Bahru, the "capital" of southern Malaysia, from where you can travel to many destinations across the Malay peninsula by plane, bus or train. Johor Bahru is also a hub for low-cost international flights.

There are two checkpoints on the Singapore - Malaysia boundary: The main one is located on the Johor-Singapore causeway (that links the city of Johor Bahru in Malaysia, across the Straits of Johor, to the town of Woodlands in Singapore).
.
The second border cross (which is, by far, less busy) is located on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link (known as the Tuas Second Link), a bridge that connects Singapore and Johor state, Malaysia. The bridge was built to reduce the traffic congestion on the Johor-Singapore Causeway, and has a total over water length of 1,920 m (6,300 ft).

Usually, travelling along the second link is much faster than travelling on the Johor-Singapore Causeway, as the traffic is smoother on both directions. However, during festive periods (especially Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Christmas and Deepavali), massive traffic jams still arise, as the huge amount of traffic going between Malaysia and Singapore during these periods leads to massive jams on both the causeway and the second link.
Another important point you should remember is that the second link is abit off the main way, especially on the Malaysian side (the Causeway takes you right to the city), so unless you are driving, it might not be very convinient (although it is less busy).
