Mid-range and Three-star hotels

A few words about Singapore's mid-range hotels...

This section covers a wide spectrum of hotels: From low-cost establishments that are just slightly above hostels and guest houses, all the way to the best of three star hotels...

All those places were recommended by both travelers and tourism professionals. They are usually very clean and comfortable, and the rooms are properly furnished with air-condition, ensuite bathroom, TV, IDD phone and the likes...

.

Hotel-facilities in most of these places are also pretty good...

In addition to the hotels which are listed below, there are quite a few low-budget places that have nice double-rooms at very reasonable prices (see the cheap hotels section for details)

.

Price range for a double room in this category is around SG$ 70 to 150 per room per night.

There is one "general rule" you should remember when booking a room in this category: The closer the hotel is to the city center, the smaller the rooms are likely to be... The dilemma is whether to get away from the centre and have a spacious room, or whether to compromise size for location...

.

Personally, I believe that location in Singapore is more important than room size.

An important accommodation-tip from 'Metropolasia-Man':

We particularly recommend two online hotel reservation services (with whom we are affiliated): The first is Agoda, which specializes in Asia, and the second is Hotels Combined, which is a price comparison service for hotels that searches 30 of the world's major travel sites at once, to get the best rate possible.

Fantastically located on Bencoolen Street, just a short walk from Orchard Road, Bugis, Chijmes and the museums, the relatively new 'Ibis Singapore on Bencoolen' is one of the only international hotels in Singapore that cater for low to mid-range budget.
Perak Hotel is a cozy boutique hotel, occupying a lovely Peranakan house in Little India, just a short walk to shops, restaurants and attractions. The air-conditioned rooms are pleasantly appointed and come with most of the facilities you would expect.
The Bencoolen owes its popularity mainly to its good location, in between Orchard Road, Little India and Bugis. Otherwise, it's a fairly good hotel, with relatively small rooms (as in most of the hotels in the city) and just a few facilities.
Housed in a beautifully restored old building, the Gateway is a fairly nice boutique hotel that gives reasonable value for money. Location wise, it is quite centrally located on the main street of Singapore's Malay enclave of Geylang Serai, surrounded by shops, restaurants and night-spots, and a stonethrow away from the Malay village and other places of interest.
Although this lovely boutique hotel is slightly away from everything, it is right next to Tiong Bahru MRT Station, so moving around should not be a serious problem... Otherwise, it compensates for its somewhat awkward location by providing quality accommodation at decent prices.
Fantastically located in a leafy and quaint residential area, just a 10 minutes walk from Orchard Road and its international shopping malls, and a couple of minutes from the swanky Shangri La, the RELC International Hotel offers excellent accommodation at very reasonable prices.
Occupying 5 beautifully restored shophouses along Temple Street, right in the heart of Chinatown, this fabulous boutique hotel makes a good choice for those who appreciate old world charm...
This pleasant hotel provides comfortable accommodation at reasonable prices. Although it is slightly out of the city, it can be easily accessed by both buses and MRT (Outram Park station is just around the corner). It also has some nice views of Mt. Faber.
Occupying a cluster of atmospheric shophouses in Chinatown, The Staff Hotel is a fairly good mid-range boutique hotel, and although its rooms are somewhat small, they are full of character.
The Robertson Quay is a popular and well-liked hotel that enjoys a superb location: next to the night spots along the Singapore River, and within a short distance to many of the city's attractions.
Strategically located on Waterloo Street, just a couple of minutes walk from Bugis Junction and the MRT station, the South East Asia Hotel has been providing reasonably priced accommodation in a homey and friendly environment for more than 50 years.
Fantastically located in a quiet, up-class residential area, within walking distance to the city center, this small hotel gives great value for money.
Fantastically located in a leafy residential suburb, just a few minutes stroll from Orchard Road's glittering malls and Somerset MRT Station, Lloyd's Inn is a small and popular budget-hotel that offers no nonsense accommodation at an affordable price
Classique Hotel is a small yet good hotel that gives decent value for money. Centrally located in Little India, next to shops and restaurants and within a short walking distance to the MRT station.
Enjoying a fantastic location on the lower part of Bencoolen Street, just a short stroll from Chijmes, Raffles City and the Colonial District, Strand Hotel makes a good choice for budget minded travelers who want to get a good bang for their buck.
Centrally located on Beach Road, just a short stroll from many places of interest, like Bugis Junction, Arab Street, Raffles Hotel, Raffles City and Chijmes, the Beach hotel is a relatively good mid-range budget option.
Great location in the heart of Little India, and excellent rates, are what the Tai Hoe is all about, and while it can't be described as fancy in any way, it certainly does the job and gives good value for money.
Fantastically located near Bugis Junction MRT Station, as well as from many shops and restaurants, the Park View is a no-nonsense hotel that provides fairly decent accommodation at a reasonable price. Rooms are quite small, yet comfortable and properly equipped with most of the amenities that a hotel of this level should have.
Housed in a lovely Tudor-style English cottage, The Sloane Court used to be one of Singapore's nicest mid-range budget boutique hotels. However, its standards have slightly declined in the last few years and it is not as good as before... Nevertheless, it still enjoys a great location, within a quiet, green residential area, near the city center.
Hotel 81 Dickson provides both a great location, right in the heart of Little India, as well as clean and well maintained rooms at very reasonable rates.
