A variety of exciting events and festivals

The historic Singapore Grand Prix, one of Asia's most spectacular motorsport events, has been resurrected after an absence of almost 35 years.

What started as a Formula Libre race (where different types of cars are allowed to participate) back in the early 1960s and was stopped in the mid 1970s, is now back in town, big time!  The new version, however, is a Formula One Race (with single-seat machines, racing up to 360 km/h) and since it is sponsored by SingTel, it is officially called FORMULA 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.

Singapore's Grand Prix is actually the world's only Formula-1 night-race.

The Marina Bay Street Circuit (otherwise known as the Singapore Street Circuit) passes through sites around Marina Bay, The Esplanade and the mouth of the Singapore River (near the Fullerton and the Merlion Statue...) and more than 100,000 tickets are issued to spectators.

The event is taking place towards the end of September, and for more information (and tickets), you can simply visit the website of SingTel Singapore Grand Prix

Tourists can also apply for a Tourist Privilege Card in any Singapore Visitor Centre to enjoy special discounts on a range of products: fashion apparel, accessories, jewellery, watches, electronic goods, cosmetics and fragrances, children toys, Singapore souvenirs and what not...  The card also renders discounts to local attractions, such as Singapore DUCK tours and the Singapore Zoo.
