Outram Park Fried Kway Teow: This unpretentious Chinatown food stall draws people from far and wide for its Char Kway Teow: A dish of flat rice noodles that are fried over very high heat with light and dark soy sauce, chilli, prawns, cockles, garlic and Chinese chives. Sometimes slices of Chinese sausage and fish cake are also added. It is fried in pork fat, with crisp croutons of pork lard, which give it its characteristic taste.
Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice: The ever lasting queue in front of this food stall says it all. Located in Chinatown's Maxwell Food Centre, this culinary landmark has been in business for more than 40 years and is still serving some of the best Hainanese Chicken Rice in Singapore.
The Beef house: Tucked in Gar Lok Eating House, on Little India's Syed Alwi Road, this down to earth eatery serves fabulous Hakka fare, and is particularly known for its Soon Kueh : A Chinese dumpling with rich stuffing of mushrooms, dried shrimps, beancurd, mince meat and what not... (although the menu features other lovely dishes you should also try...)
