In spite of its unpretentious name, Rucksack Inn has a few significant advantages, which helped it to become one of the most popular of Singapore hostels… No wonder they expanded just recently, into one of the neighboring buildings on the street.

Rucksack Inn's location, before anything else, had put it a head above its competitors… Hongkong Street, on which the hostel is located, is within a short stroll from the dining and entertainment precincts of Clarke Quay and the Singapore River, as well as from the MRT station and Chinatown. Add to this a very friendly staff, who clean and maintain the place tirelessly, pleasant ambience, nice communal area, with a small lounge where you can find plenty of travel books and maps, and there you have a place which really make you feel welcome.

Rooms here are pretty small, but considering the hostel is located in one of Singapore's more central areas, there is no reason for complaint and besides, what the Rucksack Inn lacks in spaciousness, it makes up for with pleasant rooms, spanking clean showers (with shampoo and shower gel), free internet connection and some other little treats…

The rate for a double room is SG$ 80 per night at the time of writing, while a dormitory bed will cost you SG$ 25 and although you can find cheaper hostels in Singapore, the bang you get here for your buck is great.
