As its name denotes, this well known institution serves some fabulous European and teahouse fare, with a touch of class...
Almost hidden on the second level of trendy Takashimaya, the tea-lounge boasts beautiful classic-contemporary décor, with elegant clean lines, marble floor and dimly lighted shelves with a display of delicate Chinaware (Danish style, obviously) and other Danish bric-a-brac. The windows render some nice views to the street, the ambience is very pleasant and, all in all, it's a good place for a quiet lunch with friends or for a coffee break...
The menu features a nice variety of European fare, alongside a decent selection of luscious cakes and desserts... After all, it is a Danish teahouse.
Recommended starters include Salmon or Herring platters, as well as the Shrimp Salad, followed by delicacies like Scandinavian-style open faced sandwiches, Norwegian Fish and Chips, Hamburger Steak (excellent), Crispy Roast Oven Chicken, Chicken chop in mango sauce, Spicy butter prawns and Pan-fried sausages, just to name a few...
Their promising desserts-section is full of pleasant surprises... Scones with cream & strawberries marmalade, Honey date pudding, Pear and almond cake, Chocolate brownie cake, Green-tea cake and, of course, their outstanding Danish tea, served in superbly beautiful crockery.
Prices are very reasonable for this kind of place: Their lunch-set and High tea set are a bargain at around SG$ 20 and the a-la-carte menu is not scarily expensive too...
