Rendezvous Restaurant Hock Lock Kee

After serving delicious Nasi Padang cuisine for the last God knows how many years, this fabulous restaurant has long become a Singaporean culinary landmark...

Beautifully decorated in an old-fashioned style, with Peranakan floor tiles, granite-top tables and heavy wooden chairs, the restaurant is possibly one of the best places in the city to enjoy a real Nasi Padang treat...

The Nasi Padang cuisine originated from the west side of the Island of Sumatra, Indonesia, and like most of Southeast-Asia's cuisines, it makes extensive use of rice, fish, seafood, coconut, green leafy vegetables and chili.  Although pretty similar to other cuisines across the Malay Archipelago, it maintains its own culinary independence and is considered as the region's most popular cuisine...

Beef rending (a type of beef curry that slowly cook in coconut milk and spices for several hours until almost all the liquid is gone, leaving the meat coated in the spicy condiments),  Chicken rending (similar... but with chicken),  Sayur lodeh (a stew of mixed vegetable in rich, spiced coconut gravy), Chicken korma (mild curry dish, made with yoghurt or coconut milk), Sambal brinjal (eggplants with piquant relish), Curry of Spanish mackerel  and  Begadil (potato patties) are just some of the recommended dishes...

For a refreshing dessert, try the Chendol: a popular cold pudding, comprising of coconut milk, green noodles and coconut-palm sugar.

Prices are quite reasonable
