Associated with the thriving Michelangelo's restaurant group, this lovely restaurant serves some fantastic vegetarian food from the cuisines of Italy and the Middle East.
Like some of its other Michelangelo's "sister restaurants", Original Sin is also located in the expatriate's enclave of Holland Village. Beautifully decked out in a semi-elegant Italian style, with warm terra cotta floor, wood furniture and crisp-white tablecloths... There is an 'alfresco' dining area outside, which is the right place to be when the weather is not unbearably hot and humid... Ambience is very pleasant and comfortable, service is good and, all in all, it's a nice evening out...
Chef Marissa Bertocchi, the living spirit behind the restaurant, takes the classics of Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern cuisine and gives them her own contemporary-vegetarian twist... creating scrumptious culinary creations that are appreciated by vegetarians and carnivores alike.
Herb-bread Bruschettas with goat cheese, char-grilled eggplant, roasted capsicum and rocket make one of the recommended appetizers, and there is also Middle Eastern Mezze ("tapas like" dips and salads served on small plates, as starters... including Hummus, Falafel, Tzaziki (yoghurt and cucumber), Babaganoush (eggplants and tahini paste) and more...) and some creative salads, followed by scrumptious Pizzas and Pasta dishes, Moussaka (a traditional Greek dish of baked eggplants and potatoes, with béchamel sauce and spices) and some inventive creations like Eggplant Masala or Bosco misto (Spinach, feta and tofu patties served with sautéed button mushrooms in a plum sauce and topped with asparagus).
