If Ootoya had to be described in only one sentence, it would be: "Good, authentic Japanese food, at affordable prices"
Nestled within Orchard Central, one of the quieter malls along "Singapore's Fifth Avenue", this eatery has become known for serving simple, yet scrumptious and relatively inexpensive Japanese food, especially Teishoku set meals, that give a good bang for the buck, as the mains are accompanied by a decent variety of sides, including rice and soup.
The setting here is pretty simple yet pleasant, and while there is nothing much in the way of romantic or glamorous ambience, it is a nice place to enjoy a truly good meal at reasonable prices. Recommended dishes/sets include Breaded Pork Loin Cutlet, Chicken katsu set, Charcoal grill horse mackerel, and Charcoal grilled chicken salad with basil sauce, just to name a few of the very best…
Prices, as already mentioned, are quite reasonable for what you get.
Open daily for lunch and dinner, from 12 noon to 9:30 pm and you will have to get there early enough, if you don't wish to join the queue, as Ootoya seems to be (justly) popular and does not take reservations…
