Located in a beautifully restored historic shophouse along Arab Street, Nadezhda is probably one of the only places in the city where you can get authentic Russian food.
The two floors dinning room is nicely decked out, with Russian-style furniture and decorations... the ambience is fairly pleasant and somewhat homey... and the wide presence of Russian patrons is a good sign for the authenticity of the food...
The menu features a wide range of traditional Russian and Baltic delicacies, like Pirozhki and Pelmeni (Russian dumplings), Blinchiki (thin, Crepe' like pancakes, better known as Blintzes) with different fillings and Borscht (traditional beetroot and vegetables soup). Appetizers include Kapusta Domashnyaya (rich cabbage salad) and Russian potato salad with ham, to name a few... and main dishes include the restaurant's "jewel in the crown" Minskaya Kotleta (Minsk style cutlet: a tender chicken leg, stuffed with delicious mushrooms and served with Russian salad), as well as a variety of Caucasian and Georgian grilled Kebabs (known as Shashlik), Beef Stroganoff and more...
Prices are fairly reasonable: a-la-carte dinner is around SG$ 25-35, while set-lunch is in the range of the SG$ 20
