The good old Majestic used to be one of Singapore's best known Chinese restaurants, back in the old days. It slowly dwindled in the 1980s but has resurrected again in the last few years, this time as a chic and stylish dining venue.
Nestled within the beautifully restored building of the stylish New Majestic Hotel, on Chinatown's Bukit Pasoh, the restaurant serves superb modern Cantonese cuisine, with creative dishes like Wasabi topped crispy prawn with watermelon, Peking duck with fois gras, Roasted pork with jellyfish, Siew Mai dumplings with fish roe, Shark's fin fried with egg in lettuce, Soon Hock fish (Marbled Goby) steamed with mui choy (preserved mustard cabbage) and unique desserts like their Deep fried Durian ice cream.
Over the weekend, they have special Dim-sum selections.
Prices are somewhat above the average, but the dining experience is special: Set dinner is around SG$ 60 - 70, while the degustation menus are in the vicinity of the SG$ 100, or more... Their set lunch is around SG$ 40 - 50
