Customs and Immigration

All visitors to Macau should hold a passport that is valid for at least 30 days.

Nationals of most countries are not required to obtain visas and can stay for periods varying from 30 to 90 days, depending on nationality.

 

Citizens of most EU countries, Israel and Japan will be given a permit for up to 90 days, on arrival.

Citizens of the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore and Switzerland will be given a permit for up to 30 days, on arrival.

 

As a principal, all visitors are required to have an onward ticket and sufficient funds to support themselves, while in Macau.

 

Extensions can be granted by the Immigration service (Sede de Serviço de Migração), located in Travessa de Amizade,  phone : 2872 5488

Visitors are not allowed to take employment in Macau (whether paid or unpaid), to establish or join in any business, or to enter school as a student. 

If you wish to apply for a different type of visa (other than visitor/holiday maker), You will better contact the Immigration service for more details.

 

Customs

Customs in Macau is fairly simple and hassle-free.  If you have nothing special to declare you may just proceed.

 

The duty free allowance per person is : 1 liter of alcoholic liquor or wine, 200 cigarettes (one carton) or 50 cigars or 100 cigarillos or 250 grams of other manufactured tobacco.
