These hotels were all recommended by both travelers and tourism professionals, as they are usually quite clean and comfortable, with reasonably furnished rooms that boast air-conditioning, bathroom, TV and some other amenities.

Booking through one of the agents at the Ferry-Terminal in Hong Kong (before departure) might get you the best rates, but you are running the risk of finding no vacant rooms : Especially before weekends and holidays...

Currently, we recommend two online hotel reservation services (with whom we work): Agoda, that specializes in Asia, and Hotels Combined, which is a price comparison service for hotels that searches 30 of the world's major travel sites at once, to get the best rate possible.
The newly refurbished Ole London Hotel is at the highest end of what can be described as "low budget accommodation"... Too expensive for backpackers but a good choice for those who look for a decent place at a good price (especially if your idea of a holiday in Macau is exploring the city rather than just lazying around the room).
This popular hotel (or, more approprietly,"an upgraded guesthouse") has been renovated recently, so most of the fittings are still fairly new...
It enjoys an excellent location on vivid Rua da Felicidade, right in the heart of the city and a stone throw away from everywhere.
Also on Rua da Felicidade, next door to Hotel Ko wah, Villa Universal is another good choice for backpackers who are willing to spend just a bit more to get a decent accommodation.
The East Asia is one of the better and more popular low-budget hotels you can find in Macau.
Excellent location on a quiet street within the city centre, a few minutes walk from tourist attractions, as well as the major shopping and entertainment zones.
The Masters is not a bad option for those budget-minded travelers who can afford to spend a bit more than a backpacker...
Excellent location on Rua das Lorchas, near the corner of Avenida Almeida Ribeiro, means you are within short walking distance to most tourist attractions, restaurants, shops and what not...
