Pousada de Sao Tiago

The magnificent Pousada de São Tiago is an incredibly atmospheric boutique hotel, built amidst the ramparts of the ancient, 17th century Portuguese fort, at the southern tip of Macau Peninsula.

The architects who planned this hotel did a great job, integrating the remains of the old fort into the hotel and creating a character-full inn.

Comprising of 24 tastefully decorated rooms with beautiful old furniture and balconies overlooking the bay,  the hotel has a small but lovely swimming pool, a charming outdoor terrace along the outer stone walls of the fort, where you can eat, drink or just read a book in the sun, while enjoying the great views over the water, and an exceptionally good restaurant, in terms of both food, price and ambience.

All in all, it's a very nice place run by nice people, with friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.

The only disadvantages of the Pousada are its location, away from the city center (that can be seen as an advantage by some...) and the fact that you need to climb the old stone stairs to get to your room which makes it inaccessible for disabled people.

The rate for a superior double room starts at from around MOP$ 2,000 per room per night.
