The Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) operates a few outlets across the territory. They have helpful staff that can assist you in many ways: To begin with, you can get there some good city-maps, plenty of brochures and leaflets with details of events that are held in the city, and more... Otherwise, they can also help you with services like booking of hotel rooms, tickets for events and shows, organized tours, etc...
If you wish to get a good city map, as well as some brochures, before departure, you'll better write to MGTO and ask them to send you an Information package which you are likely to get, by post, within a week or two...

If you did not ask MGTO to send you the information package by post, their information desks at the Macau International Airport or at the Ferry Terminal are, probably, the first places you should pay a visit to (depends where you enter the territory from), as soon as you arrive... At least to pick a good map of the city.
If you travelled by the Macau Ferry, the information counter at the Ferry Terminal is open daily, 9 am - 10 pm and is very well stocked with all the brochures you can think about...
The information counter at Macau International Airport is open daily, 10 am - 1 pm and 2:30 - 5:30 pm
Information counters also operate at the Shun Tak Centre (Turbo Jet Ferry Terminal) in Hong Kong, as well as at the arrivals hall in Hong Kong Airport (Service Counter A06, Arrival Hall, Level 5 Arrivals, Terminal 1).
Other MGTO bureaus can be found at the following locations :
Largo de Senado - Edif. Ritz Macau. Open daily from 9 am to 6 pm.
Guia Lighthouse - Open daily from 9 am to 5:30 pm (lunch break 1 - 2:15 pm)
Barrier gate border cross - Open daily from 9:15 am to 6 pm (lunch break 1 - 2:30 pm)
Macau Fisherman's Wharf - Open daily from 10 am to 6 pm (lunch break 1 - 2 pm)
