Take a stroll between the world's coastal cities
Macau Fisherman's Wharf, on Avenida de Amizade, just south of the ferry terminal, is one of the nicest of Macau themed-attractions, and although it is far less ppular than it was expected to be, it is still worth a visit. Opened in 2005 after five years of building and an investment of approximately two billion patacas, the Wharf spans on an area of more than one hundred thousand square meters and boasts more than one hundred shops and restaurants, as well as a large video-games arena, a charming boutique hotel (with a romantic rooftop resto-bar), a 'boutique casino' (Macau's only), a slots-hall and what not...
In general, there are three themed sections in Macau Fisherman's Wharf :
- The Tang Dynasty, at the northern tip of the "wharf", just opposite Macau's Ferry Terminal, is basically a replica of a colossal Tang-era castle (But it was not open to the public at the time of writing).
- The Underground Amusement Centre, where you can find plenty of video-games, including the popular F-1 simulator.
- The Legend Boulevard, which is Fisherman's Wharf main attraction, boasts a range of European and coastal town architectures that replicate streets and suburbs from port-cities around the globe... From the open-air Roman Amphitheatre (designed like the Colosseum in Rome), enter through the imposing Rome-style gate into the "boulevard", where you can have a cup of coffee at a French Riviera café , eat seafood in Cape Town or New Orleans and have your dessert in Amsterdam or Lisbon... There is a fairly good choice of restaurants, cafés and shops around this area, and the architectural replicas are actually quite nice... At the end of the boulevard there is a luxurious colonial-style boutique hotel (The Rocks - where the stylish rooftop Sky Lounge is) and a "boutique casino" (Babylon). Our recommended wine & dine venues include Camoes (Portuguese restaurant), Afrikana (an African themed buffet restaurant, specializing in BBQs) and and Hero Chinese Restaurant (a slightly upclass restaurant, specializing in szechuan and Cantonese food).
Macau Fisherman's Wharf is open 24 hours a day / 7 days a week and entrance is free
