The Handover Gifts Museum of Macau

Although it is not the best known of Macau attractions, and is not as famous as "The Historic Centre of Macau" or the Ruins of St. Paul's, the handover Gifts Museum of Macau is well worth the visit...

Housed in ultra-modern glass and still building that stands exactly where the 1999 handover ceremony took place, this museum displays all those gifts that were bestowed upon Macau and its residents by the government of the People's Republic of China, as well as by the various counties, municipalities and autonomous regions of China (including Hong Kong).

Each of the gifts is a beautiful piece of art that reflects the artistic skills of the region from where it originated... really awesome !

The handover gifts museum is open daily (except Monday), 10 am - 7 pm and the entrance is free.

A few minutes walk from the museum (away from the waterfront), on the corner of Rua de Berlim and Avenida Xian Xing Hai, you can see the statue of Xian Xinghai: This contemporary bronze statue commemorates the world-famous Macau born compositor, who is best known for his Yellow River Cantata.

You can easily walk to the museum from Macau Fisherman's Wharf (Walk out through the gate next to Babylon Casino, cross the road and you are there), or from Kun Iam Statue / the "Docas" Macau LKF)
