Macao Science Center

The Macao Science Center is the latest thing in Macau's attractions scene.

Opened on 2010, the center boasts 12 galleries where you can familiarize yourself with almost every possible field of science, including Space science, food science, Robotics, Earth science and what not… What's more, three of the galleries are specifically designed for small kids and toddlers, which makes Macao Science Centre a really good choice for families.

The center occupies a colossal sci-fi looking conical structure that was designed by internationally known Sino-American architect, I.M. Pei (the same architect who built the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong). It took an investment of almost fifty million dollars and plenty of work and innovation to complete it, but the result, almost needless to say, is impressive.

Contrarily to many "ordinary" museums, the galleries at the Macao Science Center are all interactive and the visitor can take part in plenty of interesting activities. There is also a fantastic planetarium here, where you can watch interesting 3-D documentaries about space exploration, as well as and other topics.

Macao Science Center is open daily (except Thursdays), from 10am to 6pm and admission fees apply.

Important tip: The exhibitions here are quite rich and there is plenty to see and do, so it is advisable to spare enough time for the visit.

How to get there ? Macao Science Center is a few minutes  walk from either Kun Iam Statue or Macau Handover Gifts Museum. Check out our Macau Bus Guide to see how to get there from every place-of-interest across Macau.
