Liu Yuan Pavilion serves top notch authentic Shanghainese fare in an elegant surroundings that does not resemble the average Chinese eatery...
Located on Wanchai's Lockhart Road, it boasts a fairly elegant décor that makes it look a bit like a retro 1970s hotel-restaurant, but is pleasant nonetheless... The tables are not too close together, which means you can enjoy some degree of privacy, and the service is friendly and professional.
Food wise, it is Shanghainese cuisine at its best, with the famous crabs (in season), as well as the whole shebang of Shanghainese favorites.. From Smoked eggs and Fried shrimps in egg to Xiao Long Bao and Fried Shanghainese dumplings, and from Drunken Chicken to Crispy fried eel and Spiced Pork in Cheng Kong Style... Everything is hands down delicious.
It is Slightly pricier than the average Chinese restaurant, but the food is fabulous and so is the ambience and the service... Around HK$ 200 - 300
