This is the local offshoot of internationally known Lei Garden, one of Hong Kong's best and most praised Chinese restaurant chains.
The philosophy here is to produce innovative, top quality Chinese cuisine that is dominated by Cantonese taste, but combines flavors from all of China's regions.
In order to keep their good name, the chefs are holding a daily food tasting session where they discuss customers' feedback and suggest improvements... each chef is requested to create new dishes and, indeed, the chain has "invented" hundreds of dishes since it started operating.
The outlet at Chijmes is pleasantly decked out with bright and light hues that make it look younger than the average Chinese dining house... the ambience is fairly nice (although it can be very busy sometimes). The food is fabulous and artistically presented and the dinning experience is complemented by a good selection of international wines and drinks.
Recommended dishes include the obvious Dim-sum (extremely palatable), Roasted pork with mustard sauce, Sweet & sour pork with pineapple, Peking duck, Bamboo clam & geoduck, Batter-fried cod fish, Double boiled shark's fin soup in chicken broth and Steamed fresh prawns with egg white... just to mention a few.
Prices here can be expensive but the dinning experience is superb and they also have some good value set-menu options (from around SG$ 60 for a 4 pax set lunch, to around SG$ 55 per person for the Shark's fin & seafood set... not too bad).
