Ivory Kitchen

Ivory kitchen boasts a winning combination of great location (right on Clarke Quay), fine dinning and reasonably large portions (unlike many of those swanky restaurants that serve sample-sized portions on huge plates...)

 

Beautifully decked out in a contemporary and elegant style that does not resemble the average Indian eating-house whatsoever... Ambience is comfortable and pleasant and service is very good.

 

The kitchen specializes in South Indian coastal cuisine from Goa, Malabar, Andhra Pradesh and even Bengal... the food is, naturally, spicy and tangy, but even those of you who can't take it too hot will find plenty of stuff they can enjoy (just speak with your waiter and tell him how spicy you want your food to be...).

 

Recommended dishes include Peshawari Aloo (Oven-grilled potato, stuffed with Paneer cottage-cheese and finely chopped almonds),  Tandoori Ajwaini Lobster (oven-grilled king size lobster, stuffed with cheese and herbs),  Malabari Trio (A combo of spicy tiger prawns, chilli fried chicken and red pepper lamb), Parat Wale Baingan (the South Indian version of Lasagna or Moussaka... consisting of cheese stuffed layered eggplant),  Matki Dum Murgh (chicken cooked on slow fire with a hint of saffron and green cardamom)  and  Hyderabadi Lamb Leg Roast (whole baby lamb leg marinated with yoghurt, ginger garlic paste cooked with tomato and fresh spices).

 

Shisha, Next door, is an elegant "Indian lounge bar", where you can chillout after dinner, listen to some Indian or western music, and have some creative cocktails and "Indian tapas"... like mini-kebabs and Tikkis (patties).

 

Prices are slightly higher than in average Indian restaurant, but the dinning experience is different... around SG$ 40 - 60
