Horse and Greyhound Racing

If you think you are going to have more luck with animals than with manmade machines or flesh-and-blood dealers, there are two venues in Macau you might want to visit: The Racecourse and the Canidrome.

 

The Racecourse is located at Macau Jockey Club in Taipa island. Racing season starts in September and ends at the end of August in the following year. Races are normally held twice a week: day races take place on most Saturdays and/or Sundays at 2pm and night races take place on Fridays at 6:45 pm. 

 

To get to the Racecourse, you can either take one of the shuttles that run from the Lisboa Hotel to the racecourse, or you can use any of the following bus-routes: 11, 15, 21, 22, 26, 28A, 30, 33, 34, 35 and AP1

Greyhound Racing takes place at the Canidrome (Yat Yuen) on Avenida General Castelo Branco, which is Asia's only greyhound racing stadium. These races are held on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and weekends, starting from 7:45 pm and there are 16 games on every racing evenings.

Admission is MOP$10 (usable for betting) for the public stand. Boxes are MOP$80 (Monday to Thursday) and MOP$120 (Friday to Sunday and Public Holidays) with a minimum charge of MOP$30 per person. Bar, snack-bars and restaurant facilities are available.

 

Players can bet inside the greyhound racing centre, or in off-course betting centres located in the Hotel Lisboa, Jai-Alai Palace and Kam Pek Casino.

You can get to the Canidrome with any of the following bus-routes: 1A, 3, 5, 7, 9, 9A, 16, 23, 25 and 34
