Founded in 1973, Hong Kong Arts Festival is the city's premier arts-event. Aimed at enriching Hong Kong's cultural life, it provides a wide range of art programmes from all over the world.

 

The month long festival is held annually, from the end of February till the end of March. Artists from all over the world flock to the city and there are hundred of performances, covering all aspects: Music, Opera, Dance, Ballet, Theatre, Pantomime and much more...

The Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) is one of Asia's most reputable platforms for filmmakers, film professionals and filmgoers from all over the world to launch new works and experience outstanding cinema.  Established in 1977, the 23-day event showcases over 300 new films and several retrospective programmes: From international award-winning movies to avant-garde Indies.  Popular categories include Hong Kong Panorama and a retrospective from the Hong Kong Film Archive. The Hong Kong Sevens, one of if the biggest events on Hong Kong's sporting calendar, is held annually, at the last weekend of March, and lasts 2 and a half days: starting on a Friday afternoon, and concluding on the Sunday evening.

 

It is considered the premier tournament on the IRB Sevens World Series in rugby sevens, and other than first-class rugby, it is also known for its cheerful party atmosphere, especially around the South Stand, where the carnival is at its height...

 Lovers of vocal music would probably love to know that Hong Kong hosts an International A cappella Festival every year, where many world-famous artists and groups preform. The Hong Kong Shopping Festival can not be really referred to as a "festival" but rather as a "hot sale season"...
