Victoria Park

Victoria Park, the largest park on Hong Kong Island, boasts fifty acres of lovely landscaped gardens, with fountains, goldfish ponds, model-boat pool and great sport facilities (including swimming pools and even bowling lawn), and makes a very nice stop for shoppers who want catch their breath before returning to the shopping maelstrom that is Causeway Bay...

The historic bronze statue of Queen Victoria, after which the park is named, used to stand in Central's Statue Square at the beginning of the 20th century, but was taken to Japan during World War II and remounted here, after it was returned to Hong Kong, at the end of the war.

As in many of Hong Kong's parks, morning hours attract a crowd of tai chi practitioners.

To get here: Drop off the tramway on Causeway Road (Right next to the park) or take the MTR to Causeway Bay Station (Exit E to Great George Street) or to Tin Hau Station (Which is closer to the park but further from the shopping malls).
