A beautiful green lung amidst the skyscrapers
|
Hong Kong Park lies right across the street from Bank of China Tower and forms a lovely and tranquil green lung amidst Hong Kong's forest of skyscrapers. Although it covers an area of only 20 acres (which means it is almost too small to be called a park), it boasts a few nice attractions that make it well worth visiting...

A short path climbs from the corner of Cotton Tree Drive and Queensway to the park's entrance, where a fountain and a clock tower can be found. From here you can take a minute walk to the historic Flagstaff House, where the Museum of Tea Ware currently dwells. Lock Cha teashop, right next to the museum, serves lovely Chinese tea and dim-sum in an elegant and relaxing ambience.
The path continues along a small manmade lake and winds between lotus ponds and artificial waterfalls before climbing to Forsgate Conservatory, from where you can continue to the Tai Chi Garden and Edward Youde Aviary, one of the park's main highlights.
Many young couples take their wedding photos at the park... Probably because the office of the marriage registrar is right there...
From the park, you can easily walk to the Peak Tram Lower Terminus or to Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens.
