HKCEC, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre

Better known by its abbreviation HKCEC, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to Hong Kong is almost like what the Opera House is to Sydney.

Originally built in 1988, this architectural creation is one of the most dominant landmarks along the metropolis' shoreline, and its colossal glass curtain used to be the largest of its kind on earth, back at the time it was built.

The second phase of the centre was built in the mid 1990s on a small manmade island, right next to the original building, and the two are connected by a sky bridge.  Its roof looks like a bird in flight, when seen from Victoria Harbour.

Other than various international exhibitions and conferences, the HKCEC hosts many different cultural events, theatre shows and the likes... There is also a choice of some excellent restaurants within the centre.

Getting there:
Wan Chai Ferry Pier is right next to the centre

From MTR-Wanchai: Walk along the pedestrian bridge (It's just a few minutes).
Tramway: Drop off on Johnston Road] enter small O'brien Road and continue with the elevated walkway...
To check for upcoming events: take a look at their Event Calendar
