Flagstaff House and the Museum of Tea Ware

City's oldet existing colonial building houses a beautiful museum

The Flagstaff House, inside Hong Kong Park, is the oldest remaining colonial-style building in Hong Kong.

Built in 1846, this Greek revival house served as the military headquarters office and residence of the Commander of the British forces in Hong Kong, from its first day until the 1970s, and although it was heavily bombarded by the Japanese during World War II , it was perfectly restored as soon as the war was over.

Today the building houses the Museum of Tea Ware which, as its name suggests, displays enthralling collections of tea related artifacts, including the world's oldest known extant teapot.

The K.S. Lo Gallery, next door, showcases rare collections of ceramics and Chinese seals.

The Museum of Tea Ware is open daily, 10 am - 5 pm (closed on Tuesdays and on the following public holidays: Christmas Day and Boxing Day, New Year's Day and the first three days of the Chinese New Year).

Admission is free

Lock Cha teashop, right next to the museum, serves lovely Chinese tea and dim-sum in an elegant and relaxing ambience.
