One of the world's longest escalator systems
The Central-Mid Levels escalators is one of the world's longest escalator systems, and one of Hong Kong's "must dos"...
Built in the early 1990s, it was meant to relief the traffic congestion between Mid Levels and Central, by pedestrianising the area, and although it did not fully succeed in doing so, it is certainly better than nothing...
The escalator operates daily, from 6am to midnight: It first runs downhill (until 10am) and then runs uphill, from 10am till midnight, connecting Des Voeux Road Central and Queen's Road Central in "Central", with Hollywood Road, SoHo, Caine Road and all the way up to Robinson Road and Conduit Road, in the higher parts of the "Mid Levels".
Entry points can be found on the corner of Des Voeux Road Central and Queen Victoria Street or Jubilee street (Central Market), and on Queen's Road Central (corner of Cochrane, at the back of the Central Market).
