Introduction to Singapore's public transport

Singapore's public transport system is among the world's most efficient, safe, affordable and frequent.  The roads, too, are in excellent condition and well signed, so driving should not be a problem either. However, entrance to some parts of the CBD is restricted only to vehicles with four passengers (in order to ease traffic congestion around the city center) and parking is not always easy to find... Moreover, with Singapore's public transport system being so good, renting a car is really unnecessary, unless you need to visit places that are far from public transport (which is rare) or if you can't walk much... But even then, taking a taxi will usually make more sense.

If you do wish to rent a car in Singapore, please note that visitors can drive around the country with their foreign driving license, provided it is in English.  If your driving license is not in English, you will have to issue an international driving license and attach it to your driving license (In any case, it is always advisable to have an international driving license).

Driving is on the left-hand side of the road, just like in the UK and Australia.
