Bangkok Airways is not a low-cost carrier as such, but its direct flights from Hong Kong to the island of Koh Samui (Thailand) and from Macau to Bangkok work out to be quite cheap and convinient. www.bangkokair.com
Cebu Pacific operates low-cost flights from Hong Kong (and Macau) to Manila, Cebu, Davao and other destinations across the Philippines. www.cebupacificair.com
Hong Kong's online travel agencies are another good option, when you look for discounted flights. Here are links to two of them:
Aerohkg - www.aerohkg.com
Zuji - www.zuji.com.hk
Those agencies normally make use of free seats on intercontinental flights that stop in several Far-East destinations. For example: Finnair stops at Bangkok on its way from Hong Kong to Helsinki and vice versa. There are, therefore, some vacant seats on the Hong Kong - Bangkok section of the flight, and those are sold at a discounted rate by the online travel agencies.
Those special deals are also available through physical travel bureaus... just hang around town and keep your eyes open...
