The Mandarin Oriental's legendary lounge is possibly where Hong Kong's best and most popular High Tea Buffet can be enjoyed.
It looks a bit like a retro 1960s lounge, and although it lacks the colonial-era glamour of the more famous peninsula, the food and the tea at Clipper Lounge are possibly better than those served at the Peninsula, and the atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant... (not to mention that you usually don't have to wait for a table for too long).
The three-tiered silver trays are loaded with tiny artistically-presented sandwiches, finger size pies, savory muffins and, of course, sweet pastries, luscious cakes and scones with clotted cream and blissful Rose-Petal Jam.
Prices are somewhat high, but not too bad for such a treat: around HK$ 230 per person
Afternoon tea is served daily, 3 - 6 pm
