Run and managed by a well-known Singaporean restaurateur, together with his co-partners from Beijing, this small and splendid restaurant serves some true Imperial cuisine in a very cozy and pleasant environment.
Located along Chinatown's Kreta Ayer Rd., the small restaurant is pleasantly decked out, with polished wood floor, white and red tablecloths and some vivacious paints of flowers on the walls... ambience is soothing and relaxing, as expected from such a place...
The food they serve here is very different than what you can find in the average Chinese dinning place... Imperial Pekingese cuisine is actually a "Chinese fusion" that developed in the emperor's palace over the years, featuring the best delicacies of every region.
Recommended starters include assorted cold and warm appetizers like: Boiled pork slices, Deep fried Lotus roots, Cabbage in mustard and Tea-smoked pig trotters. Other recommended delicacies include the Fish lips soup (with sea cucumber and bamboo shoots), Fresh prawns sautéed in savory sauce, Claypot eggplant with minced Meat, Chicken slices sautéed in fragrant sweet wine sauce and, of course, the iconic Peking duck.
Prices are certainly not low but the dinning experience is simply outstanding
