Tiny Augusters Lodge is, doubtlessly, one of the most popular backpacker hostels in Macau, mainly because there are not too many hostels in town with reasonable dormitories, like the ones you see in large cities around the globe… The hostel occupies a "converted" apartment and the rooms are fairly simple, but all the same clean, air-conditioned and pleasant (something which can not be said about the ugly building in which the hostel is located).
One of Auguster's most significant advantages is its superb location, bang in the heart of Macau town - Right in between the casino hotels and Senado Square, and there are plenty of shops, restaurants and eateries around it, including legendary Margret's Café e Nata, one of the best places in Macau to indulge on Portuguese egg tarts, which is just downstairs.
As at the end of 2010, rates at Augusters Lodge are around MOP 110 per bed per night (There are three bunk beds in a room), or MOP 230 for a double-room with shared bathroom (It is a small place anyway, so there are never too many people to share with…). Other amenities include a communal area with TV, and an option for laundry and internet connection, as well as free local calls.
Address: Rua Do Dr. Pedro Jose Lobo No. 24, Floor 3J, Block 4, Edf. Kamloi (There is a fairly small sign above the building's entrance, so make sure you don't miss it, when looking for the place).
