Afonso III is another hidden gem, where you can enjoy super size portions of delicious Portuguese fare at a reasonable price.
Located not far from Largo de Senado, this humble family-style restaurant is run and managed by Portuguese chef Afonso Carrao Pereira, who has been around since the early 80s and serves some excellent Bacalhau dishes, alongside other fish and seafood specialties like Clams in white wine and lemon sauce, or Grilled prawns.
The intimate restaurant is very popular among Macau's portuguese community, which means the food must be good and authentic, and there is a decent choice of wines to complement the meal.
